6/16/18 - Des Moines, IA to Denver
Being high up excites me.
Folding my arms one on top of the other over the top curve of the steering wheel while staring out at peaks breaking up through the horizon excites me.
Driving around curved highways and steep grades will dancing between mountains and up over passes excites me.
Feeling good and writing romantically is refreshing because the road has been "welcoming" us the same way Mt. Kilimanjaro "welcomed" me; toughly, but soon after, warmly.
Ironically, the warmth to come is at elevation. Thousands of feet above sea level where higher winds blow, heartier plants grow, and peculiar Earth patterns show. There, I'll be warm.
14'ers, trailheads, rolling clouds, the sounds of rocks folding over other rocks beneath your boots, small glacial lakes, and summertime snow packs.
Warmpth at elevation.
Belief in a process.
Life as an adventure.
And, a pace growing slower. Denver for a little while.
